Tobii Dynavox: Speech Generating Device

Due to my ALS I've had to use a speech generating device (SGD). I use a vmax from DynaVox. It is wonderful. I highly recommend this device over an ipad etc. It has many levels of use from child, to basic adult, to very advanced. It can be operated by using a head mouse or eye gaze. Please, don't be afraid. It's simple to use and improves/maintains quality of life drastically. It's done so for me and I know it would for you. Your speech assistant, local ALS assoc. or an ALS clinic should be able to help. It has accessories: a free-standing stand and a second stand for wheelchair attachment. Both are very helpful! I'd recommend both.
However, Tobii bought Dynavox and no longer makes the vmax, though they still make repairs and honor all warranties. The Tobii models are an upgrade and excellent units.

Yup that's me, out-and-about, using head-mouse technology (see the silver ball on vmax+). Just move, hover cursor over a word or phrase and talk. Cool voice choices too. I can type a phrase and speak it too. I made this whole website using only my vmax+ and head-mouse technology. The pads around my head allow me to fully operate my chair. Just touch and go. Better than staying at home huh!
